All About Mrs. Wood
Both myself and my husband are teachers within Sturgeon Public School. We have been married for just over two years and are now happily anticipating the arrival of our little bundle of joy, this November 2018. Baby Wood is due just 5 days before my birthday so I am looking forward to having lots of baby snuggles for my birthday present this year.
Learning became a passion of mine early on. Curiosity fuels my desire to discover and investigate. Imagination fostered through education opens you up to unimaginable opportunities. Because I love learning and believe in the value of education, it is my desire to inspire others to explore their own questions and develop their own love of learning. I believe teaching is about relationships. Classrooms should be safe, caring environments in which students feel welcome, valued, and included in the classroom community. I strive to know my students: their likes, dislikes, interests, and abilities. Similarly, I enjoying sharing my own interests and abilities with the students so they can get to know me better. In this way, we can develop the mutual respect and trust necessary for effective learning to occur.
When I'm not teaching, preparing lessons, or working on professional development, I love to spend time with family, go camping or hiking, attend live theatre performances, exercise and play sports, watch Edmonton Eskimos Football, and make crafts such as homemade greeting cards or creating family photo albums.
Growing up in small town Redwater, Alberta, every moment of spare time was spent playing sports including volleyball, basketball, softball, badminton, and swimming. In order to share my passion of sport, I have coached volleyball for seven years and most recently established the Elementary Sports Club at Morinville Public School.
